Are your classes really inclusive?

Yes! We welcome all to our classes and strive to make them accessible. All we ask is that you are respectful and participate to the best of your ability. If you are unable to participate for the full duration, please move quietly to the side or back of the room to watch and listen. You are welcome to take notes and with permission, record the instructor. We will work with all abilities and offer modifications and suggestions. Please do not feel like you will be limited.

We also invite and respect all genders in our classes. We use gender-inclusive language and will ask your pronouns.

We want everyone to feel like they can thrive as a dancer here.

But isn't the word 'tribal' harmful and therefore contributing to a non-inclusive environment?

Absolutely. We fully recognize the harm inherent in using the word 'tribal' as part of the overall American Tribal Style® name. Since we are under the purview of FatChanceBellyDance®  and they have trademarked the name, we must use it. Aeshna is part of a group of dance teachers who are taking a proactive approach in changing the language being used around this and we hope that changes will be made in the future.
